A recent discussion on our hiring efforts and the candidates’ motivators converged on a common theme connected with age. The following observations seem to sum it up:
Previous generations: Were more interested in “money” to get the “things” they want.
Recent generations: Are more interested in the “time” to do “what” they want.
When considering this change in motivation, take a look at your “time” compensation package: vacation time off, flexible hours, paid/unpaid leaves, flexible banking of hours. This might change the way you work with employees, but it may help you attract and retain talent!
