David Abbott is The Alternative Board’s local Facilitator for the Thames Valley (West) region.

In this quick-fire interview, David discusses his love of rugby, golf and beer - all of life's best bits!


What was your first job?
Cashier with Lloyds Bank.

If you weren’t in your present position, what would you be doing?
Running a headhunting practice.

What’s the worst mistake you’ve ever made?
Too many to mention, but generally resulting from failing to follow my instinct.

What are you proud of, but never have an excuse to talk about?
The relationship I have with my stepsons.

What’s your ideal day away from the office?
Golfing with friends (and a few beers afterwards).

Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why.
Brian Moore (ex England Rugby Player) because he’s intelligent, interesting and articulate.

What was your best subject at school?
English.

What was the best day of your life?
22nd December 2001 (you’ll have to ask to find out why).

What would be your last meal?
Christmas Dinner, hopefully in at least 30 years’ time.

What would you do if you won the lottery?
Embark on a tour of the world’s Top 100 Golf courses having ensured financial security for my family.

What is your top time saving tip?
Get yourself organised so you don’t have to waste time looking for stuff.

What was the last picture you took?
A Goan beach sunset about 2 weeks ago.

What would your epitaph be?
He did OK.

And finally, what would you like for Christmas this year?
Planning consent for my proposed house extension.
