Are you struggling with your business, and being overwhelmed by a whole bunch of things that you have to tackle?
(…And so are many of the TAB members that I work with.)
Recently whilst working with one of our members, who seemed to have a bit of a challenge with their management team we discovered a few things. Out of the five management team members, it appeared that three of them were not fairly pulling their weight.
It was very interesting to have that open and honest discussion, because it was frustrating for the member to figure out the best way to solve this.
As part of the coaching session we covered a number of factors, but in the end, what it boiled down to was that one person was ultimately the root cause.
There was some very specific behaviour around not delegating, that was then causing a knock on problem, percolating and expanding that issue on to the rest of the team.
This was clearly the one main area to address.
I’d like to expand on the point, that getting focus is so important, but it’s so easy to become overwhelmed by problems. When you care it is easy to get caught up, and trying to solve ten different things at the same time, which will result in not effectively solving any of those issues at all.
When a problem or issue does appear, it’s a great time for you to seek out help from someone else. Someone who is dispassionate, and who can independently just walk you through the situation objectively.
Believe me it will help you to break your challenge down into bite-sized pieces.
Cutting down that large problem into one or two key elements that you can solve, will make life easier and more manageable.
That’s so much easier, isn’t it…? Handling one rather than ten problems at the same time.
The main take away from this is to find someone to act as a sounding board.
Find someone to help talk you through when you face a challenge.
It can be lonely being a business owner, and it can also be overwhelming at times, but there are always solutions.
