Your business coaches in Hertfordshire

I have worked with SME business owners and business leaders in the UK, Middle East and Scandinavia from start-ups to companies listed on AIM. I have expertise in mergers and acquisitions, business planning and stakeholder alignment and having run businesses with between 5 and 100 people appreciate and understand the challenges that business owners face in the running of their businesses.

Since starting my TAB business in 2015, I have been inspired by what members have achieved with hard work, focus and persistence. I am proud to be helping them in their business and personal lives by leveraging my previous experience and the support, challenge and insight TAB Board Members provide to each other.

I run Boards for businesses across Hertfordshire (Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield) with members from diverse sectors including manufacturing, construction, IT, professional services, facilities management, marketing and design.

Born in Hertfordshire, I live in Harpenden with my wife and 3 daughters. I enjoy golf, cycling and watching my daughters play hockey.

I love meeting new people. If you would like to explore how TAB can help you grow and develop your business, please get in touch.

I was lucky to meet Martin shortly after being promoted to Managing Director of Kane International. Martin has extensive business experience and has proved to be a valuable mentor as I transition into my new role. Martin’s approach is very professional and he helps me understand where I need to improve at work, at home and within society. During these unprecedented times Martin and the TAB community have been very generous in sharing information which has greatly benefited Kane and myself. Working with Martin is certainly giving Kane a competitive advantage!

Jonathan Hoole, Managing Director of Kane International

There is an endless amount of ‘stuff’ to be done when running a business but TAB assists me greatly on keeping focused on the ’20’000 ft’ perspective – on strategy, development and the ‘long game’. Our TAB board is extremely diverse and we continually challenge, question but essentially, support and encourage each-other on an ongoing basis. It is extremely interesting and useful connecting with other business owners and learning how we all overcome challenges which are specifically different but, ultimately, the same! TAB adds great benefit to any business/owner) wanting to focus, plan and thrive in this noisy world of ours!

George Goss, Goss Environmental Coatings

Being a member of a TAB Board has really helped me to focus on moving my business forward. We now have clear goals and the learning from the support materials and board challenge has been invaluable. Martin is a fantastic mentor who listens and truly understands my business. The advice and motivation he has provided has been truly inspirational. TAB is great value for money and I would recommend it to any business.

What is business coaching?

A business coach is supports business leaders to align their business decisions with their personal goals or vision. At TAB, we don't just give you the answers but our business coaching services equip you with the necessary tools and knowledge to make better decisions and improve your profitability.

Our business coaches in Hertfordshire offer coaching, mentoring, consulting and of course, facilitate our peer advisory boards. Plus, they give you access to our exclusive strategic planning platform – The Business Builder’s Blueprint.

Why should Hertfordshire-based business owners consider coaching?

There are 58,000 enterprises in Hertfordshire and many of their owners may have considered coaching.

Here are eight benefits:

  1. Improve your strategic plan

A key difference between a business coach and consultant is that a consultant will often focus on one specific area such as succession planning, whereas a coach will guide owners to strategically plan their business in its entirety.

2.       Develop your skills

Could you be a better communicator? A better negotiator? A business coach can encourage you to develop skills that will help you succeed not only in this current business but in whatever venture you take on in the future.

3.       Keep you accountable

A business coach will hold you accountable to ensure that you're taking the actions you and your business need to keep moving forward.

4.       Provides you with a fresh perspective

Because a business coach doesn’t work in your company, they will be distanced from most of your opportunities and challenges. This means they can provide an outside perspective with new ideas, strategies and approaches.

5.       Learning from others’ experience

Often, business coaches, like ours in Hertfordshire are previous business owners or have worked for big corporates and in business for a long time.  This means that when you approach them with an issue, they’ll more than likely have an experience they can draw on to guide you through it.

6.       Helps you focus on your personal development

Business coaches also often take on a business mentoring role. This is where they focus on you, the business owner, on a person. In coaching sessions, they can be available to listen to any emotional needs or concerns you have.

7.       Gives you the support you need

Another great benefit of business coaching is the support they it gives. A business coach can help you combat the loneliness of entrepreneurship as your go-to listener and your trusted advisor.

8.       Grow your business

A key benefit of a business coach is that they can help you achieve business growth. By providing business owners with all the benefits mentioned above, business coaches can sometimes be the ticket toimproving your decisions and increasing profitability.

What business coaching is not

A business coach is not the following:

  • The solution

Getting a business coach does not mean that all your business challenges will be solved through those coaching sessions. The coach is there to guide you through and empower you with the right tools and knowledge to help you find those solutions. Inevitably, challenges will also come your way, but a coach is there to hold your hand through them.

  • Life coaching

A business coach is not there to get involved in your personal life and aspirations but will consider how your personal goals might line up to your business ambitions.

  • Counselling

Counsellors are specifically trained in dealing with specific personal problems such as mental health or family relationships. A business coach is not trained to deal with these issues and therefore should not be expected to address them.

  • Consultancy

A consultant focuses on a particular area of expertise and projects in those areas such as a marketing consultant or finance consultant. They seek to fix specific problems within a business, a business coach however, provides more generalised advice and insights. At TAB, we do sometimes provide consultancy services as each of our coaches have their own niche areas of expertise.

Why TAB business coaching in Hertfordshire?

Here are three reasons why you should consider TAB’s business coaching . In fact, 98.9% of our members said it adds real value to their business:

  • Our business coaches in Hertfordshire have experience

Martin, Tim and James all have over 20 years experience in the business world. They come from a range of different backgrounds and sectors, but they all have one thing in common – the desire to help local business owners lead better lives and run stronger businesses.

  • Coaching tailored to you and your business

Your coaching sessions will be tailored to your needs and what you need at any given time. This means you'll always get what you want from your sessions.

  • Works alongside our advisory boards

Our business coaching is so powerful because of its combination with our business advisory boards. These bring together business owners and leaders from non-competing sectors in a group setting, and they help one another identify opportunities and solve the challenges they each face in their businesses. This means, in a way, you get several business coaches by sitting around a TAB board table in Hertfordshire!
