Ian is The Alternative Board’s local Facilitator and Strategic Business Leadership Certified coach for the Mid-Cheshire region. Ian spent his employed working life in large organisations, those being Gallagher’s, Rank Xerox, Pitney Bowes and Kingston Communications where he managed sales teams, divisional operations and held General Manger roles responsible for over £15m revenue and 60 staff. Successful in his career managing sales teams led Ian to more strategic management roles, which broadened his skills across all facets of business responsibility. Gaining a reputation for successfully turning around underperforming operations at Pitney Bowes and Kingston, Ian believes that effective recruitment and training of all staff is essential, together with providing them an opportunity to develop individually. Working alongside individuals and seeing their careers progress, gives Ian an immense amount of personal and professional satisfaction.
People development being Ian’s passion, led him to starting his own consultancy business in 2008, this primarily being involved in the franchise industry. Working with individuals who are now at a crossroads in their working life, Ian helps them identify the right franchise opportunity for them, and thereafter coaching them through the process of a thorough business investigation, validation of all aspects of the business to successful contract conclusion. Using a proven process Ian has successfully placed many candidates who have now secured their dream of business ownership suitable for their attributes and skills. Starting a business that was new in concept to the UK at the height of a recession, Ian can certainly empathise with the issues, challenges and problems that face business owners in today’s commercial world!
